Welcome!

I’m Dr. Gila Z. Reckess, PhD (she/her/hers).

My name is hard to pronounce, so here’s a tip: It’s like Reckless, but without the “L.”

I specialize in working with patients who fall into one of the following two general categories:

Neurologic populations:
Adults with brain disorders/injuries and their loved ones

As a clinical neuropsychologist, I have in-depth, advanced training and experience working with adults with brain disorders and injuries. When I worked in outpatient neuropsychology assessment clinics, my colleagues and I frequently recommended that our patients find a therapist who understands their neurological condition. Unfortunately, we knew that was often hard to find. So, I decided to do it myself! My goal is to help patients understand the condition affecting them or their loved one, learn practical tools for daily life, and feel supported and empowered during this challenging time.

Parents of children and tweens

I know just how overwhelming and exhausting parenting can be, and how few supports there are for struggling parents. I combine a compassionate, trauma-informed lens with my background in brain development and functioning to help parents understand and overcome any challenges preventing them from having the relationship they want with themselves and their families.

I tailor therapy to the unique needs of each person, integrating a variety of methods to support and empower each individual throughout this process.

For example, therapy might include…

I believe YOU are worthy of support, respect, and the skills and freedom to create the life you want.
